Tour Details

Departure Time (By Land Route Option - Car & Jeep)

For FULL-DAY or MORNING HALF-DAY safaris, departure from Kalpitiya is at 4:30 AM.

For AFTERNOON safaris, departure is at 11:30 AM.

Departure Time (By Boat Option - Boat & Jeep)

For FULL-DAY or MORNING HALF-DAY safaris, departure from Kalpitiya is at 5:30 AM.

For AFTERNOON safaris, departure is at 11:30 AM.

Transfer to Wilpattu Safari Park

By Car & Jeep option : The driver will pick you up directly from your hotel and transfer you to the park entrance. Depending on the number of guests, a car, van, or other suitable vehicle will be arranged.

By Boat & Jeep option : The driver will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the boat yard in Kalpitiya. From there, a boat will take you across the lagoon (16 kilometers / 45 minutes) to the Wilpattu boat yard. Another driver will then transfer you from the boat yard to the safari park entrance.

If you wish to travel to another destination after the safari, drop-off can be arranged accordingly.

Starting the Safari

Enjoy an exciting jeep safari inside Wilpattu National Park, exploring its natural lakes (villus), diverse wildlife, and untouched landscapes.

The half-day safari is approximately 4 hours, and the full-day safari is approximately 8 hours. The safari is conducted by experienced jeep drivers who are familiar with the park and known wildlife sighting areas

A dedicated wildlife guide is not included; however, drivers share insights based on their experience.

What You Will See

Expect to spot herds of spotted deer, elephants, and crocodiles, as well as monkeys and wild boars. Variety of birds like kingfishers, eagles, bee-eater, hornbills and many more.

Wilpattu is famous for its leopards, which are rare but may be spotted during your safari.

Returning to Hotel or Next Destination

After an unforgettable safari, you will be safely dropped back at your Kalpitiya hotel. If you wish to be dropped at a different location or another destination, this can also be arranged, though additional charges may apply depending on the distance.
